Cams Security Solution
to be Unveiled at JavaOne 2002
San Diego, CA, March 1, 2002 - Cafésoft
today announced that it will unveil the Cafésoft Access Management
System (Cams) at Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s JavaOne developer's
conference, held March 25-29 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Cams is an easy-to-use, reliable, and cost-effective security platform
that centrally controls and monitors access to secure network applications
and data.
"We're pleased to be unveiling Cams at
JavaOne, the world's largest developers' conference," said
Gary Gwin, Cafésoft partner and founder. "The Java
developer community is creating many of the network applications
on today's Internet and intranets. Cams will provide developers
with a centralized application security platform that removes the
burden of security implementation and management from each application
they develop."
Cams makes web sites more secure and manageable
by centralizing application security administration and access,
rather than building access control systems into each application.
This centralized approach enables companies to reduce development
and administration complexity and costs, while improving time-to-market,
application security, and user satisfaction. Cams delivers single
sign-on to multiple web applications by securely sharing authentication
(who you are) and entitlement (what you are allowed to do) information.
A scalable design allows Cams to be partitioned
to meet performance and network integration requirements. Cams utilizes
caching at both the agent and server levels to ensure that the logic
for frequently accessed resources is memory resident. And load balancing
is achieved by distributing requests across agents on the front-end,
and by directing agents to use servers with the lightest loads on
the back-end. Cams provides native integration with industry-standard
LDAP, NDS, and NT directory services, as well as SQL databases.
The product deploys into heterogeneous environments providing a
centralized, security platform to meet the traffic requirements
of high-volume sites.
"Some access management products only
focus on securing web applications," said Norbert Kuhnert,
Cafésoft chief technology officer and founder. "The
flexible Cams architecture potentially enables any network application,
datasource, or device to be protected, including wireless and set-top
boxes. For OEMs, the server itself can be embedded into a network
appliance that supports Java."
A download beta release of Cams will be available
from Cafésoft's web site in the second quarter of 2002. Cams
developer licenses will be free; run-time server license pricing
will be announced at a later date.
Cafésoft provides software products and professional
services for managing secure access to network applications and
data. Customers use the company's flagship product, the Cafésoft
Access Management System (Cams), to easily, reliably, and cost-effectively
centralize access control and monitoring of secure network resources.
Using Cams for secure access management empowers customers to improve
time-to-market, increase operational efficiencies, and lower maintenance
costs. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Cafésoft is a private
